Welcome to Clee Hill
Located in the beautiful South Shropshire Hills, the village is approx. 1,120 to 1250 feet, (340 to 380 metres) above sea level.
The views around the village are spectacular, with nearby Titterstone Clee Hil, (pictured), being a great place to experience 4,000 years of history, especially the industrial quarrying complex which has some of the earliest well-preserved concrete structures in the country.
The only hills in England mentioned in the 'Mappa Mundi' in Hereford Cathedral, the hill has always been a site of special significance. A stone based hill fort is still visible around the summit, and is a scheduled ancient monument. Sitting in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape (was the AONB area of outstanding natural beauty), there are many interestings and beautiful walks with nature and wildlife to see. Titterstone is a favourite with cyclists who want to conquer it.
With a 360 degree view from the trig point on the summit, you can see Yr Wddfa (Snowdon) 80 miles away to the north west on a clear day. It is local folklore that there are no higher hills between Titterstone and the Urals in Russia some 2,500 miles away.
There is truly much to see if you enjoy walking, riding, cycling, playing with the kids and dogs, but bring your camera/phone as the sunsets can be stunning.
